    Responsibilities

    We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) team.  The successful candidate will play an integral role to ensure a level of uninterrupted support to Field Service, Customer Service and Project Management in alignment with the company’s EH&S objectives.

    • Manages Corporate EH&S Compliance Calendar and related tasks for power plant installations;
    • Supports Field Service, Customer Service and Project Management to assure environmental compliance and workplace safety;
    • Works in collaboration with Product EH&S (Engineering) to coordinate all overlap areas between power plant design and site EH&S compliance;
    • Prepares, implements and manages site specific EH&S plans, programs and procedures for power plant installations; researches technical issues as they relate to EH&S concerns;
    • Assists with the preparation and management of site specific environmental permits for power plant installations throughout power plant lifecycle;
    • Prepares EH&S regulatory reports for power plant installations;
    • Conducts audits on environmental permitting and record-keeping activities. Monitors and periodically reports on these activities, audit results, and any other issues;
    • Assists with program development, maintenance activities and improvements to ensure compliance with applicable regulations;
    • Performs Industrial Hygiene Monitoring, record keeping and reporting at power plant installations;
    • Conducts EH&S inspections at power plant installations to identify risk factors; assures all identified risk factors have corrective actions and planned abatement plans identified; must track in the internal tracking database to timely closure;
    • In partnership with Field Service, Customer Service and Project Management, investigates injuries, incidents and near misses as they relate to EH&S; completes thorough reports and makes recommendations for injury and incident prevention;
    • Drives timely employee completion and program compliance of safety training as required. Contributes to training program improvements and ensures training meets regulatory compliance when required;
    • Ensures proper management of all waste streams (e.g. hazardous, non-hazardous, universal and recyclable materials) generated at each power plant installation. Coordinates, stages and ships waste shipments as required;
    • Manages the ISN Contractor Management software portal; on site interaction with regulatory and emergency response personnel;
    • Works within the guidelines of the established corporate EH&S program and provides suggestions for improvements;
    • Facilitates / supports Service, Customer Service and Project Management team adherence to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001;
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education:   BS degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related discipline with minimum of 3 years of applicable work experience.  An Associate’s degree in a related discipline with minimum of 5 years of applicable work experience will be considered. Candidates with extensive EH&S experience in the Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution sector may be considered in lieu of degree.

     

    Candidate Must Have / Be:

    • Demonstrable experience in Safety and Environmental disciplines with a strong background and knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations Candidate should also be knowledgeable or have the ability to become proficient in state specific EH&S regulations; e.g. California, New York and Connecticut
    • Experience in accident and incident investigation procedures, root cause identification and follow-up on corrective and preventative actions
    • Demonstrable strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate in English, verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization
    • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
    • Ability to multi task and respond quickly to change and with urgency
    • Ability to work effectively on a team and independently
    • Experience working in a cross functional environment
    • Experience with high tech R&D; Manufacturing; or Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution organizations is preferred
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Familiar with a Learning Management System for training records management
    • Experience in the management of chemicals and hazardous waste materials

    Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

    • Must be able and willing to physically work in an office and environment where work is sedentary, and in an outdoor construction or power plant setting where you will be exposed to environmental conditions with no effective protection from the weather..
    • Be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, respiratory protection and other PPE as required.
    • Able to travel between CT locations regularly.
    • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time. Domestic and international travel may be required on a semi-frequent basis
    • Ability to obtain/maintain a valid passport and travel without restriction internationally is required.
    • Must be willing and able to respond to and participate in after-hours needs and requirements in support of the business.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to distinguish between colors, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to hear or be aware of audible danger alerts.
    • Possess the ability to work at elevated heights using a ladder and appropriate fall protection equipment.
