    We are currently seeking a highly motivated Supplier Quality Engineer to join our fast-paced, dynamic team and support FCE’s business plan by effectively and proactively ensuring the highest possible quality levels for purchased materials. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in supplier related processes such as qualification, development, integration, monitoring, and auditing. Travel to various fabricators and suppliers domestically and internationally.


    • Ensures supplier performance through collaborative proactive quality planning with an emphasis on statistical techniques.
    • Conducts supplier audits, product inspections; assesses supplier’s quality and manufacturing capabilities in order to support the FCE supplier qualification process, surveillance program and supplier development program.
    • Drives continuous improvement in supplier performance through utilization of Lean Six Sigma Tools and the 8D process.
    • Maintains, analyzes, and reports Key Performance Indicators and Cost of Quality data to identify recurring trends and drive improvement actions to reduce internal and external failure costs.
    • Participates in DVP&R and design reviews, develop measurement and test plans, representing the FCE Quality function in the product development processes.
    • Participates in and/or may lead Root Cause and Corrective Action initiatives internally and at supplier organizations.
    • Executes Nonconformance Report activities within ERP system and assists with maintaining a corrective action system to address supplier related issues.
    • Defines and maintains sampling and reaction plans for incoming products based on actual supplier quality performance
    • Reviews certificates of compliance, test data, inspection data and other supplier quality documentation to confirm the quality of supplied material
    • Supports product improvement by analyzing reliability of fielded components against expectations.


    Education:   Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field preferred.  A non-engineering degree may be considered with applicable experience.  Master’s degree is a plus. 


    Experience:   2+ years of experience in quality engineering, including audits and inspections, reviews, in-depth understanding of quality concepts and principles; less with related Master’s degree or applicable engineering experience will also be considered.  Supplier Quality experience in a manufacturing environment strong preferred.


    Special Skills:

    • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher; or demonstrated application of statistical concepts (e.g. Reliability Engineering, or Six Sigma tool application)
    • Quality Assurance Certification (CQE, CQA, CQM) preferred
    • Proficient in innovative problem solving, expertise with quality control analytical tools
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and product requirements
    • Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills
    • Demonstrable ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently
    • Cross functional team leadership skills
    • Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office Suite   
    • Ability to work at international supplier sites on cross-cultural and multi-lingual teams (working through a translator as applicable)

    Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

    • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
    • Able to travel between CT locations regularly
    • Ability to obtain/maintain a valid passport and travel without restriction internationally is required.
    • Must be able to work physically in the manufacturing plant or construction site, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety gloves, hard hats, safety shoes, etc., as designated
    • Lifting up to 25 pounds, walking (standing) in/on a large manufacturing plant, on concrete flooring or uneven installation/construction site for extended periods of time
    • Periodic bending, reaching - working with both hands and arms in full range of motion; and climbing ladders required to perform inspection of incoming, installed or manufactured parts
    • Ability to hear or be aware of audible danger alerts
    • Ability to remain on feet and move from area to area within a supplier shop or construction site
    • Computer work for extended periods of time is also required
    • Ability to distinguish color
    • Must be able to travel to various fabricators and suppliers domestically and internationally by plane, car, etc.
    • Possess the ability to work at elevated heights using a ladder and appropriate equipment
