Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join FuelCell Energy’s Procurement team. Reporting to the Manager of Procurement, the MRO Buyer is responsible for the procurement of all MRO goods and services for FuelCell Energy’s two facilities located in Connecticut (Danbury and Torrington). In addition, the MRO Buyer will procure the Direct Material required by R&D projects, support the Field Service Spare Components procurement program, and other departments, as needed. This position requires a strong focus on Cost Reduction objectives through the implementation of competitive bid Supply Agreement contracts.

  • Directly supports the procurement of all MRO goods and services in response to the requirements of each facility.
  • Accurately and timely processes all purchase requisitions in accordance with FuelCell Energy’s procurement process.
  • Develops a competitive supplier landscape, through the use of competitive bids; negotiates and recommends supply contracts when advantageous to do so.
  • Leads negotiations with suppliers on price, payment terms, and lead-times.
  • Works closely with FuelCell Energy’s Legal team to develop supply contracts.
  • Meets yearly cost savings targets as defined by the Procurement Manager.
  • Manages FuelCell Energy’s Purchase Card Program (P-Card) as a system administrator.
  • Reconciles monthly P-Card purchases against statements.
  • Maintains communication channels with suppliers, internal customers, and Procurement team members.
  • Identifies indirect sourcing synergies between Danbury and Torrington facilities, in support of cost reduction activities.
  • Develops a strong understanding and knowledge of suppliers and their capabilities.
  • Assists in the annual standard costing process.
  • Identifies new opportunities for cost reduction (i.e. introduction of new supplier(s), leverage spend).
  • Manages supplier relationships to ensure the continuity of goods and services meet the quality, service and price performance standards of the company.
  • Supports and backs up other buying positions as needed, to foster a group dynamic and to further develop the team’s skill-sets.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience:  A Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline with 0-2 years’ experience in a manufacturing MRP environment is preferred.   Will consider an Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing MRP environment or relevant experience will be considered.  CPSM is a plus.

 

Candidate Must Have / Be:

  • Strong verbal and written communication, conflict resolution, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • An in-depth knowledge of procurement, both strategically and operationally, with a strong understanding of procurement and strategic sourcing processes.
  • General technical and commodity knowledge of: raw materials (i.e. steel, plastics, and chemicals) and various manufacturing processes (i.e. machining, stamping, welding and fabrication).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software suite, including: Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with an ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics AX, a plus).
  • Able to support and adhere to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (ISO 9001:2015).
  • Familiar with the SarbanesOxley Act, to help support the corporate SOX compliance program.
  • Have the ability to travel domestically ~ 10%.
  • Travel between Torrington and Danbury locations up to 2 days/wk. required.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • General work is in an office environment utilizing a computer and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to drive between CT offices to attend meetings as required
