Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, forward-thinking engineering professional to join our Engineering department.

 

Position Summary:

 

Reporting to the Manager - Instrumentation & Controls, the Associate Database Engineer supports a centrally located OSI PI database system and all PI interfaces to several process controls systems. This position also provides support to all local HMI databases, including but limited to sequence of events software.

  • Configures and maintains data acquisition software, such as Proficy Historian, to acquire signals and data directly from the plant’s control system.
  • Configures and maintains data acquisition system, such as OSI Soft PI system, to interface with plant’s local historian.
  • Develops documentation for data acquisition system while adhering to product development engineering processes.
  • Maintains documentation for data acquisition system while adhering to design change engineering processes.
  • Maintains and continuously improves all SCADA related databases.
  • Performs daily database administration tasks including monitoring, troubleshooting and remediation activities.
  • Maintains and implements database change control, release process for all production and non-production environments.
  • Develops and maintains data integrity, security, High Availability (HA), Disaster Recover (DR) planning.
  • Modifies databases based on approved requests from internal and external customers.
  • Plans and conducts structured testing of database designs to confirm functionality and performance, optimize and tune database schemas, stored procedures, triggers, dynamic queries, and works with Engineers and Technical Mangers to implement complete solutions.

 

 

 

Qualifications

Education:   Bachelor’s degree (Technical, Scientific or Engineering) or related BS with applicable experience

 

Experience:  0 - 2 years of related experience   

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Database Theory, Structure and Reporting
  • Experience with Engineering & Scientific data acquisition and processing tools
  • Reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with data historians and OPC server/client platforms would be a plus
  • System documentation and review experience
  • General programming skills in one or more: C,C++, C#, VBA, Python, .NET or JAVA
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with strong people orientation and relationship building skills
  • Strong aptitude and desire to learn fuel cell control systems
  • Ability to work in a team environment including Engineers, Operators and Technicians.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Office environment where the employee may sit comfortably to do work
  • Some walking, standing, bending, reaching, and carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc.
  • On-call rotation duty
