Responsibilities

Overview of the Opportunity:

 

In this position, you will play a key role in the final stages of our manufacturing process helping to ensure that our fuel cells perform in accordance with our specifications and are ready for shipment to the customer. This is a multifaceted position that is both rewarding and challenging, as you will be installing the fuel cell to the conditioning facility, operating and maintaining a variety of equipment, and monitoring the heat-up and cool-down process of the fuel cell.

 

  • Performs integration of Fuel Cell Modules including but not limited to conditioning the new fuel cell, monitoring the startup operation and preparing the module for shipment to the customer.
  • Follows all required checks and procedures prior to starting the conditioning process.
  • Performs the set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies.
  • Determines and may develop test specifications, methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings and diagrams.
  • Inputs data into ERP and work management software and recommends solutions to technical problems.
  • Assist in the selection and set-up of specialized test equipment.
  • Orders parts and materials used in the operations.
  • Assists in writing procedures and other technical documents.
  • Performs preventive and emergent maintenance activities.
  • Maintains physical outdoor work site.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

 

Education:  High School Diploma or GED required.  Prefer AS Degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.

 

Experience:  Minimum of 4 years’ experience in power plant operations/maintenance in an industrial setting required.  Experience troubleshooting instrument, electrical, mechanical issues preferred. Some experience in rigging, mobile equipment, and insulation ‘a plus’.

 

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong technical knowledge in the ability to perform maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and operation of conditioning facility and site equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of an integrated team and cross functionally with other departments.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal direct supervision, especially during off-shifts.
  • Ability to use basic office equipment including proficiency with MS Office
  • Must be able and willing to train and obtain certification as needed on mobile equipment including forklifts, 60 ton Overhead Bridge Crane and other mechanical assisted lifting devices (all training will be company provided).
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel locally for company business.

 

Physical Requirements and Work Place Conditions:

  • This position works on a 12 hour rotating weekend and night shift
  • Must be willing and able to be on call for 24/7 support when a Conditioning unit is under operations on a rotating basis.
  • Some travel between the Torrington and Danbury facilities may be required.
  • Works both in climate controlled and uncontrolled environments; must be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Frequently required to lift, push, pull and place manufacturing materials which have a weight of 25 to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Be able and willing to wear required personal protective equipment as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats and other PPE as required.
  • Routinely performs tasks that require full range of motion with both hands/arms. Motions include circular, up and down, back and forth, side to side and overhead.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights
