We are currently seeking a forward-thinking, ambitious, self-directed engineer with the desire to find innovative solutions in a highly technical and growing industry, to join our Applications Engineering team. This individual will support and contribute to the Applications Engineering team for U.S. projects, and take the lead on projects in South Korea.

  • Works with global Sales team on pre-sales and post-Sales technical efforts;
  • Develops and executes technical sales strategies relevant to regional market opportunities;
  • Identifies and communicates individual project / customer requirements to Sales Manager;
  • Communicates requirements for order fulfillment to operations team (sourcing / manufacturing);
  • Follows competitors’ activities and assesses potential market moves;
  • Reviews and influences customer specifications to assure product fit and notes exceptions for development of equipment options and service quotations;
  • Performs a variety of calculations to assess adequacy of the company’s product to meet customer needs. Sizes auxiliary equipment (electrical, thermal, fluid) that may be needed to provide a complete solution to the customer;  
  • Engages with and supports Application Engineering Managers, Sales Managers and immediate manager;
  • Prepares and delivers technical presentations to all levels of a customer’s organization;
  • Creates project layout drawings and flow diagram sketches (to be drafted by others);
  • Develops engineering and installation work scopes, schedules and cost estimates to facilitate total scope project offerings;
  • Identifies and documents commercial / contractual risk associated with proposed projects;
  • Contributes positively to regional sales orders, profitability, and quality goals;
  • Collaborates with senior engineers to define solutions that meet product performance, efficiency, and cost goals;
  • Defines Functional Requirements, creates Statements of Work, and prepares Requests for Quote and all associated documentation as required;
  • Leads project technical sourcing reviews for project elements beyond the company’s core products;
  • Maintains documentation revision control and documents all customer/vendor communication;
  • Works with Sales to establish proposal-level project timelines, plans, and deliverables to meet customer project objectives;
  • Before the sale, works with Sales to identify, and after the sale works closely with Project Management and Customer Service to address any applicable environmental reporting/monitoring requirements;
  • After the sale, work closely with Project Manager to: establish and maintain project schedule, ensure quality and functionality of project installation, archive project technical documentations and prepare project closeout documentation (i.e., manuals / drawing sets) for customer delivery.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.





Education:   BSME or BSChE from an accredited program; BS/MSEE or other relevant discipline may be considered if applicant has considerable relevant mechanical work experience.   MS degree a “plus”.



  • Minimum of five years of commercial experience in a Technical Engineering role in the power generation, process, or petrochemical industries.
  • Proven success working on cross-functional projects requiring coordination between various groups.
  • Strong customer interface skills and ability to resolve technical problems with customers in various industries.
  • Background in performing calculations to assess adequacy of a product to meet a customer need. Successful candidates will be performing, for example, electrical and thermal demand calculations, gas and steam pressure and flow calculations, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills using MS office programs.


Candidate must have:

  • Bilingual skills (English and Korean) required
  • Understanding of Korean industrial business practices preferably working for or with Korean companies is a strong plus
  • Well rounded mechanical/chemical engineering background (structural, fluids, thermal) as related to power/petrochemical plant equipment. Must be able to read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), heat and material balances, and electrical one and three line diagrams. Background in power electrical and controls areas is highly desired.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills. Candidate will be the technical face of the Company in customer meetings and will author written material used in customer proposals and sub-vendor RFQs.
  • Detail oriented, problem-solving mindset. Initiative to take on responsibility and follow through.
  • Motivation to learn and improve, self-confidence to acknowledge criticism, and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary commercial team environment toward a common goal.
  • Drive to execute independently on technical matters with technical team consultation. Must be a self-starter.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability and willingness to innovate and participate in team collaboration with ongoing process/design improvement.



Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:


  • Sedentary office work includes writing documentation and working at a computer, utilizing a keyboard and mouse.
  • Some walking, standing, bending, reaching, and carrying of light items.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Field work requires ability to wear required personal protective equipment at customer sites and in power plant installation as required, such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and clothing or gloves that provide appropriate protection. The field work will involve making measurements, reading meters and gauges, taking photographs, taking natural gas and water samples, and can include climbing ladders to perform inspections.
  • Domestic and international travel in support of sales and installations as needed. (Approximately 30% travel expected).
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a valid passport and travel without restriction internationally is required.
