We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled communicator possessing extensive capital market experience to lead the global investor relations and corporate communications functions for a leader in delivering clean, innovative and affordable fuel cell solutions for the supply, recovery and storage of energy.

 

Responsibilities

OVERVIEW:

 

Oversee and manage Investor Relations for FuelCell Energy. The role also manages Corporate Communications, public relations and supports the CEO and CFO in strategic planning and the GC with government relations. Position is located at the Danbury, CT Company headquarters.

  • Must develop a thorough understanding of stockholder ownership, stock price, research reports and other items for the Company, and monitor and assess changes and trends in ownership of the Company’s stock.
  • In partnership with the Company’s senior management, develops strategic and tactical investor and corporate communications plans, policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position. This includes but is not limited to investor and public relations / corporate communications and government affairs messaging, analyst coverage and shareholder communication.
  • Manages quarterly earnings release process including the first draft of the earnings release, supporting slide deck, executive management scripts and manages the call. Thoroughly familiar with all aspects of public co. SEC reporting (annual, quarterly etc.).
  • Crafts messaging and ensures consistency across multiple platforms including press releases, social media, Company website, marketing communications, employee communications and government affairs. Manages the Company external internet and social media sites.
  • Manages and expands sell-side and global buy-side relationships including organizing investor and analyst meetings with senior management as well as undertaking targeting and screening of suitable institutional investors and initiating outreach.
  • Maintains existing media relationships and builds new media relationships to effectively communicate the Company’s messaging and explain the industry opportunity.
  • Manages the annual report / annual meeting process.
  • Acts as liaison between the external community and Senior Management to inform of communications, decisions, policies and all matters relevant to investor and public relations activity. Communicates both formally and informally with key members of the FCE organization on an ongoing basis, including reporting on current status of FCE’s investor and public relations department, plans, concerns and market trends. Monitors stock trading dynamics as well as market and industry news and summarizes concisely for management, and on occasion, for the Company Board of Directors.
  • Oversees both direct and indirect reports to ensure materials related to investor and public relations communications are accurate and timely. Develops staff to meet the needs of the FCE organization. Manages, develops and directs the day to day activities of the Communications Analyst. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Facilitates a culture of camaraderie through communication and change as necessary. Consistently exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others, working to maintain constructive working relationships, focusing on facts and circumstances to determine what action should be taken.
  • Actively participates in external meetings and similar type activity related to investor and public relations.
  • Proactively reads, understands and keeps abreast of all regulatory developments and rating agency methodology changes that impact the Company.
  • Prepares periodic peer analyses and builds competitor performance comparisons to be used for benchmarking and positioning.

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA in Business, Finance, Public Relations or Communications   Advanced degree preferred (i.e., MBA)
  • 12+ years’ experience of progressively increasing responsibility in overall investor and corporate communications management in a dynamic, fast growing, high-tech environment.
  • At least 7 years of IR/PR experience must focus on developing relationships with the investor community and documenting the company message for external communication
  • Public company experience required
  • Experience working in the energy/power generation industry strongly preferred
  • Experience working for an internationally based company preferred

Special skills: Strong financial analysis skills.  Superior written and verbal communication in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the complex, highly technical documents related to the Energy Industry. Ability to respond effectively and respectfully both internally and externally to all levels to the most sensitive inquiries or concerns. Ability to make presentations with passion, energy, intensity and enthusiasm on complex topics to the external community as well as internally to all levels of the company. Leverage social media to expand company’s messaging.

 

Computer proficiency in MS Office required. Experience working with a Bloomberg terminal strongly preferred. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally is required.

 

Certifications/licenses/memberships: National Investor Relations Institute, certification and membership strongly preferred

 

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • Be willing and able to travel up to 20% to attend off-site meetings.
  • This position is primarily sedentary.
  • Must be able to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
